Hat #1: Calligrapher

Sue has been a professional calligrapher for about 30 years. She started out self-taught, but it didn't take long for her to realize that she couldn't get where she wanted to go without instruction. She joined Kaligrafos, the Dallas Calligraphy Guild, where she learned and grew, eventually becoming president and, even more importantly, Program Chairman. This allowed her to schedule her favorite calligraphy teachers to come to Dallas for weekend intensives. The imprint of these master calligraphers shows up in everything Sue letters. She was a popular calligraphy teacher until the effects of post-polio put an end to that part of her career.

In her lettering studio at home, Sue's favorite jobs are addressing envelopes, especially wedding invitations. She loves the "joy jolt" each guest receives when they open their mailbox to find their names beautifully calligraphed, the promise of something special to come. Second favorite is placecards, since guests get to look at their names all through a meal!

Hat #2: Christian Women's Speaker

Sue loves teaching women and laughing, and if those two can be combined, all the better. She is a frequent speaker for MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) and Stonecroft Ministries (Christian Women's Connections) on the topic "How to Handle the Things You Hate But Can't Change," based on her lifelong experience as a polio survivor.

Sue is a speaker/writer for Probe Ministries, a Christian organization that helps people to think biblically. She is also the "webmistress" for Probe.org's 1200+ articles and answers to email (many of which she wrote). This means she's a computer geek and she refuses to apologize for it.

She also serves on the board of Living Hope Ministries, a Christ-centered organization that helps people struggling with unwanted homosexuality and the family members of those with same-sex attractions. From her years of studying this issue and ministering to those dealing with this issue, she speaks frequently on "Raising Gender Healthy Kids," and is writing a book about this topic.
