This is a women's retreat at sea, over 4 nights (Thursday afternoon to Monday morning, July 19-23).
We'll have a total of 3 meetings together, plus small group discussions.
We will begin each session with worship. We will hear testimonies from different women, and I'll be giving 3 messages.

The ship is the Carnival Valor, sailing from Galveston. You can drive down Wednesday afternoon or evening and stay in a Galveston hotel to decrease your travel stress, or leave early early on Thursday and drive down to arrive around noon or early afternoon. Incidentally, my favorite Galveston hotel is the Quality Inn on the Seawall. (We have to be on board by 3:00 at the latest.)

For those flying in: there is no commercial airport in Galveston, so you'll have to fly into Houston, which has two airports. Hobby (served by Southwest Airlines) is closer to Galveston. If you fly in the day of the cruise, you can use the Carnival shuttle. One-way fare between Bush Intercontinental and the Carnival pier is $47, and between Hobby Airport and the Carnival pier is $37. If you fly in the day before and get a hotel near the airport, you can use the hotel shuttle to go back to the airport in the morning and catch the Carnival shuttle, which only runs on embarkation and debarkation days. Another (and more affordable) possibility are the daily shuttles between the airports and Galveston with Galveston Limo, www.galvestonlimo.com/airport-shuttle.asp

You don't need a passport for this "closed loop" cruise, where we start and end at the same port. Just a copy of your birth certificate.

Here's the schedule:
Thursday — group picture right after mandatory safety drill, followed by Session 1 before dinner. Small groups meet after dinner at 7:30.
Friday — Sea Day — Session 2 11:00 a.m., small groups meet in the afternoon. Elegant (dress up) night.
Saturday — 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Cozumel, Mexico (your choice of activities or excursions during the day, your choice of entertainment at night)
Sunday — Sea Day — Session 3 1:30 p.m., small groups before dinner.
Monday — Arrive Galveston 7:00 a.m. We'll probably be off the ship and on our way home by 10:30 at the latest.

Here are the per-person double-occupancy prices as of March 31: This includes your room, food and beverage (excluding alcohol), and entertainment. And the retreat sessions!

  • Inside $614, plus $61.63 port taxes and fees
  • Oceanview $759, plus $61.63 port taxes and fees
  • Balcony $864, plus $61.63 port taxes and fees
